ECYD 2610 - Leadership in Early Childhood Organizations

Prerequisites ECYD 1570 , ECYD 1225 , ECYD 1110 , ECYD 1235 , ECYD 1215 

This course provides an advance level examination of professional expectations and behavior. Students will examine the nature of leadership in early childhood profession including ethical considerations, advocacy, and communications skills requiredwhen leading or interacting with colleagues, clients, and allied professionals. Coursework includes opportunities to develop teamwork and problem solving skills while examining issues of interest to students and relevant to early childhood professios. A special focus on job seeking skills, professional presentation and on-going professional development if included.Prerequisites: ECYD 1110 , ECYD 1215 , ECYD 1225 , ECYD 1235 , ECYD 1570 Note: This course required a MN DHS background study includng fingerprints.

Learning Outcomes
Examine ethical issues confronting early childhood leaders and apply the NAECY Code of Ethical Conduct to differing ethical dilemmas

Describe leadership in the context of the early childhood profession

Demonstrate professional communication skills including writing and speaking

Examine current issues in early childhood and demonstrate research and presentation skills in sharing topical information

Develop an up to date resume relevant to a role in the early childhood profession
