ELEC 1137 - Construction Site Safety

Safety in the workplace is everyone’s responsibility. This course covers basic employee safety training for hazards commonly encountered on a construction site or industrial workplace. Employees can greatly reduce the chance of injury to themselves or co-workers by carefully following OSHA and general rules, and safe work practices.
Learning Outcomes
Summarize safety issues pertaining to ladders and stairways Recognize the importance of OSHA, OSHA Focus 4, and Minnesota’s AWAIR policies. Differentiate the correct and incorrect ways to handle hand and power-tools. Predict electrical hazards such as arc flash and electrical shock. Learn to apply proper personal protective equipment and lock out tag out. Identify the fire triangle and employ proper fire extinguishing techniques. Obtain an OSHA 10 certification by the completion of the course Identify slips, trips, fall protection and scaffolding and apply proper actions to take to avoid unsafe areas.
