ELLW 1155 - Equipment Operations
2 Credits A mix of classroom training and outdoor lab work studying and applying the safe and efficient operation of digger derricks, skid steer loaders, backhoes and trenchers.
Learning Outcomes Identify multiple types, uses, lifting capabilities and capacities, insulation rating levels, hydraulic tool circuits, and hazards of working around and the operation of excavating equipment, digger derrick trucks, and aerial bucket trucks. Describe and demonstrate proper use of truck and unit setup position, outrigger support and placement, fall arrest requirements, emergency controls, equipment grounding procedures and tool functions. Perform preflight and inspection of insulated aerial boom, digger derrick and excavation equipment. Operate aerial boom trucks from bucket and ground controls, digger derrick trucks to set poles and lift equipment, and excavation equipment.
