ENGL 1401 - Short Stories
3 Credits This course examines a diverse collection of short stories from various cultures and periods in history. The course explores the short story as an art form designed to provoke thought and develop critical thinking skills. Weekly classroom discussionsinspire new outlooks and elevates knowledge of the human condition.
Learning Outcomes Write an informed analysis of the stories, present orally and in writing, and defend your findings. Interpret and discuss critically a variety of short stories that range both in culture and chronology. Analyze the development of the short story within its larger cultural context. Demonstrate an awareness of the development and diversity of the short story genre.
