HVAC 1330 - Steam and Hot Water Heating

The study of steam and hydronic heating systems. Low pressure boiler code requirements, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing of boiler systems. Study of the different types and applications of steam and hydronic boiler controls and piping. Practical lab experience of building-installation of a boiler and piping system. Preparation for the State of Minnesota Special Engineers license exam. Job safety standards are applied.

Design and install a boiler piping and venting system using the State of Minnesota Mechanical and Fuel Gas code book. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills consistent with State of Minnesota Special Engineers license. Demonstrate how to troubleshoot and repair a boiler system using the State of Minnesota Mechanical and Fuel Gas code book.
Learning Outcomes
