IETA 1500 - Print Reading

This course is designed for students who have no previous experience with print reading, and students from both manufacturing and construction programs will benefit from this course. The primary goals of this course are to help individuals acquire a solid foundation in print reading. Some of the topics include the concept of mechanical drafting and layout, terminology found with common mechanical parts, and how to read and understand piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID).
Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
Explain the basic rules in drafting mechanical drawings.
Identify common terms used when dealing with general mechanical parts.
Indent flow paths found on P&IDs.
Identify types of equipment operators use including pneumatic and hydraulic motors, vessels, scrubbers, and pumps using P&IDs.
Identify valve used on P&IDs including gate, globe, butterfly, check, solenoid operated, and safety valves.
