IETA 2000 - Boiler Operations and Power Distributions
3 Credits Prerequisites IETA 1300
This course includes information on operating and maintaining steam and hot water boilers, as well as powerplant technology, including both traditional and renewable power sources. Topics include how to safely operate a commercial sized boiler, how electrical power is generated, and how this power is distributed throughout the country. Students are also required to obtain a Minnesota Special Boiler Operator license by the end of the course.
Learning Outcomes Obtain a Minnesota Special Boiler License through the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.
Identify the components of a boiler and their functions.
Operate and maintenance a steam and hot water boiler.
Describe how electrical power is distributed through the grid
Learn different kinds of energy production including. renewable and nonrenewable power.
