IDES 2108 - Color and Light

Prerequisites Accepted into NCIDQ Certificate

This course continues the study of color principles, theory and psychology, and how color affects people and interior space. Light sources, lighting systems, environmental factors and lighting design methods will also be studied. Students will investigate the dynamics of color and light in interior environments while developing knowledge of lighting techniques and their effects.

Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate associations and affects of color, basic light calculations, and the effective use of color and light in a space.

Define color and lighting terms used in the industry

Demonstrate the proper way to analyze a room’s light level and daylighting and then create a lighting plan including a reflective ceiling plan.

Identify light sources, light controls, luminaire types, and the physiological and psychological effects of color.
