MDAS 1223 - Laboratory Skills II

Prerequisites MDAS 1125 

Co-Requisites MDAS 1232 

This course expands on the skills learned in MDAS 1125  Laboratory Skills I. The student will participate in waived and moderately complex laboratory collection and testing in the areas of chemistry, immunology, microbiology, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis. Students will also learn how to apply a Holter Monitor and perform electrocardiography.

Major Content Areas
Proper specimen collection

Hematology, immunology, microbiology, chemistry, urinalysis, and coagulation areas of the laboratory and the testing in these areas

Proper laboratory testing

Holter monitor

Electrocardiography

Quality control

CLIA-waived and moderately complex laboratory testing
