PTEC 1260 - Operation Work Processes



3 Credits
Prerequisites PTEC 1200  and PTEC 1220  

Introduces students to the fundamental principles and practices of process operations within the chemical, petrochemical, and manufacturing industries. Students will explore the roles and responsibilities of process technicians, safety protocols, standard operating procedures, communication methods, and the operation of process equipment.

Learning Outcomes
Explain the purpose and importance of safety procedures such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) in process operations. 

Interpret process drawings, including P&IDs and PFDs, to identify equipment and system functions. 

Demonstrate effective communication techniques in team-based process operations. 

Execute start-up and shutdown procedures for process units following established protocols. 

Apply troubleshooting strategies to identify and resolve common process equipment issues.
