WELD 1250 - Flux Cored Arc Welding II
2 Credits Prerequisites WELD 1101 , WELD 1130
Co-Requisites WELD 1210
This course develops the welding skills necessary for the Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) process on carbon steel plate in vertical and overhead positions.
Learning Outcomes Demonstrate proper safety practices. Determine proper settings on the welding machine for FCAW welds. Perform FCAW equipment setup and basic operation including gas flow settings for carbon steel welds. Demonstrate proper electrode control and manipulation for carbon steel welds. Determine proper travel, speed, and work angles for FCAW welding for carbon steel welds. Perform stringer bead surfacing, 3F single pass, 3G single pass, and 3G multi pass welds in the vertical-up position on carbon steel. Perform stringer bead surfacing, 4F single pass, 4G single pass, and 4G multi pass welds in the overhead position on carbon steel. Visually inspect welds and cuts to determine if standards are met.
