ARCT 2020 - Building Structures

This course is intended to provide an architectural technician with the knowledge necessary to work and communicate effectively with a structural engineer for coordination purposes. A fundamental review of statics and the flow of forces through a structure will be studies as well as the stresses placed on members by various forces.
Learning Outcomes
Understanding of the forces and types of stresses that a building must counteract in order to avoid structural failure. Application of basic frame structure concepts using various media and construction techniques. Understanding of strengths of various building materials as used in structural applications.
