ARTS 1001 - Intro to Visual Arts
3 Credits We live in a world that often places us in a position of visual overload. Images flood into our lives through television, print and social media. Although we innately interact with and react to the visual world, it is critical that the educated student learns to appreciate the production, history and the cultural relevance of visual art. This study includes perspectives on art from ancient times to present, but an emphasis is placed on the cultural significance of art from the modern era to the present time. By studying and making visual art, students will become more connected to the visual world around them and to their own avenues of artistic expression.
