ARTS 1301 - Design Fundamentals
3 Credits This course covers the elements and principles of design: line, shape and form, space, texture, color and balance, proportion and scale, unity and harmony, and emphasis, in two dimensional and three dimensional formats through application. Color will be a focus, including the study of hue, saturation, and intensity, and how color affects people demonstrated through project work.
Learning Outcomes Application of the material studied either through written analysis and / or project work. Studying the 7 elements of design: line, shape, form, color, space, value and texture. Investigation into the ways the 7 elements are used and controlled to achieve specific goals in the viewer such as electing a specific emotional response or association.
