AUTM 1007 - Introduction to Automotive Technology



3 Credits
This course covers automotive industry fundamental knowledge and operations as well as basic automotive chassis, brakes, air conditioning, and parts identification. The course will utilize various types of tools and test equipment along with reference materials available via service information and the textbook.

Learning Outcomes
Describe the basic purpose and function of automotive braking systems, chassis systems, air conditioning systems and their basic components.

Students will demonstrate compliance with current automotive industry safety and environmental standards.

Research vehicle service information for automotive braking, chassis, and air conditioning systems

Explain what it means to be a professional technician and the requirements to become ASE Certified Technician.

Demonstrate the proper use of hand tools and general shop tools and equipment to perform general vehicle maintenance.
