AUTM 2017 - Automotive Brake Systems



3 Credits
This course includes basic principles of brakes, hydraulic system basics, disc and drum brakes, parking brakes, anti-lock brakes and power assist units. Emphasis will be placed on operation, diagnosis and repair of various types of braking systems.

Learning Outcomes
Perform maintenance and repair operations to a vehicle’s braking system in accordance with ASEstandards.

Demonstrate compliance with current automotive industry safety and environmental standards.

Inspect the operation of mechanical and electronic parking brake systems.

Research applicable vehicle service information such as brake system operation, precautionsand technical service bulletins.

Identify and inspect mechanical and hydraulic brake system to include (ABS) anti-lock brakesystems.

Diagnose and inspect vehicle wheel bearing in accordance with ASE standards.
