AUTM 2167 - Automotive Electronics and Computers



3 Credits
This course covers automotive electrical and electronic fundamentals. Students will learn how to identify and interpret circuit wiring diagrams. Industry recognized procedures for repairing wiring harnesses, connectors, and terminals are demonstrated and practiced in this course. Operation, diagnosis, and repair of automotive series, parallel and relay-controlled circuits are studied using various types of tools and test equipment.

Learning Outcomes
Use a digital multi-meter to accurately measure voltage, amperage and resistance in an automotive circuit.

Demonstrate knowledge and application of basic electronic components and computer fundamentals used in automotive electronic circuits.

Demonstrate the ability to test the operations of and diagnosis problems with automotive series, parallel and relay-controlled circuits

Use diagnostic tools such as scan tools and oscilloscopes to diagnose and repair vehicle electronic circuit concerns.

Locate applicable service information and be able to interpret automotive wiring diagrams in order to test and diagnose automotive electrical circuits.
