AUTM 2228 - Automotive Transmission Fundamentals



3 Credits
This course covers the basic theory of automotive transmissions / transaxles. This includes torque converter operations, planetary gears sets, clutch assemblies, bands, and hydraulic systems operations. Students will learn transmission / transaxle operations, diagnosis and repair.

Learning Outcomes
Perform diagnosis and repair operations on automotive transmissions / transaxles in accordance with ASE standards.

Demonstrate power flow of automatic transmissions.

Identify and describe automatic transmission / transaxle component and operation in accordance with ACE standards.

Demonstrate compliance with current automotive industry safety and environmental standards.

Demonstrate torque converter operation and power flow as well as diagnosis of torque converters in automotive transmissions / transaxles.

Access and utilize service information and technical service bulletins in accordance with ASE standards.
