CIVL 1151 - Basic CAD
5 Credits This is the first course in Computer Aided Design (CAD) labwork for Civil Engineering Technology Students using AutoCAD software. It will present the fundamentals of AutoCAD including but not limited to command structure, setting units and limits, drafting primitives, layering, use of editing tools, grid, snap, and axis commands. The assignments require extensive use of the Civil Engineering Technology CAD lab.
Learning Outcomes View and manipulate drawings Work with drawing files Print and plot drawings Place raster images and vector files into drawings Draw and modify drawings with AutoCAD Adjust layers and object properties Use inquiry commands, the Design Center, and Tool Palettes Use annotative objects Create section views and multiview drawings Work in paper space with viewports and borders Use references, and object linking and embedding Dimension drawings Design and insert blocks with and without attributes Set up drawings Put together sheet sets. Place text and tables in drawings Do basic pencil drawings and sketch basic objects
