Program Outcomes
Describe the sequence of typical cognitive, social and emotional, physical, and creative development of children birth to age 8 years and how development and learning are integrated.
Explain the many ways in which young children differ in their development and approaches to learning.
Know about, understand and value the importance of and diversity in family and community characteristics and use this understanding to create respectful, culturally and linguistically responsive reciprocal relationships and to engage as partners with families in young children’s development and learning.
Use strategies for ethically and objectively assessing young children’s development and use this information to establish individual goals and design developmentally appropriate and responsive learning experiences.
Plan, design and implement developmentally and culturally appropriate learning experiences using children’s ideas, needs, interest, culture and home experiences.
Create and maintain physically and psychologically safe and healthy learning environments for young children.
Plan and implement appropriate curriculum and a variety of instructional or teaching practices based on development knowledge of individual children, the community and accepted learning goals and content.
Demonstrate ethical and professional practice that shows: respect for children, families and colleagues; understanding of the reciprocal nature of relationships; reflective and intentional teaching practices; and a commitment to on-going professional growth.
