CMSV 2710 - IRC Plan Review & Field Inspections

Provides a basic understanding of how to conduct plan reviews and field inspections under the International Residential Code. Students will learn about building components and systems, and how residential building code requirements are applied to these systems during construction. This course is intended for a student that is working towards a career in the construction industry as an inspector or as a project manager, and will assist in the preparation for the ICC Residential Inspector certifcation.
Learning Outcomes Inspect the construction site to see that the building or structure location is in compliance with the requirements of the local ordinances, fire separation regulations, and the site plan Verify that the unit separation is in compliance with the code and tested assembly requirements. Verify that materials used in footings and foundations are in compliance with approved plans and code requirements. Communicate, issue, and maintain inspection reports, correction notices, stop work orders, and data for the issuance of the certificate of occupancy. Verify that the actual and allowable floor area calculations are correct.? Verify that products not detailed in the building code are approved by the building official and installed according to their listing.
