This course is designed to explain the fundamental provisions of the International Fire Code and focuses on the basics of the code requirements for the design, installation, and operation of fire department systems, access, water supply, alarms, andhydrants. This course is intended for a student that is working towards a career in the construction industry as an inspector or as a project manager and will assist in the preparation for the ICC Fire Suppression and Alarm certifications
Learning Outcomes
Describe the basic elements of a public water supply system including sources, distribution networks, piping, and hydrants. Explain the benefits of fire protection systems in various types of structures. Analyze the basic components of fire as a chemical chain reaction, the major phases of fire, and examine the main factors that influence fire spread and fire behavior Explain the basic components of a fire alarm system. Describe the hazards of smoke and factors that can influence smoke movement in a building. Identify the different types of components of sprinkler, standpipe, and foam systems. Perform plan review and inspections for fire suppression and fire alarm systems.
