ELEC 1230 - Construction Skills and Introduction to Wiring Theory

Prerequisites ELEC 1130 , ELEC 1139 

This course covers material and design of residential wiring, wiring methods, fastening devices, sizing of boxes, wire and over current devices. Including branch circuit requirements and the application of the NEC for a dwelling unit and the use andapplication of blueprint.

Learning Outcomes
Apply use of the NEC for the wiring of a dwelling unit.

Draw circuits for proper switching of lighting and receptacles from multiple locations.

Layout light, switches, and receptacles for a dwelling unit.

Design NEC compliant circuits.

Calculate circuit components for a motor circuit.

Choosing correct boxes wire size and over current devices for a circuit.
