MCAP 1401 - Transmissions
3 Credits Prerequisites MCAP 1000
This course covers the basic theory of automotive transmissions / transaxles. This includes torque converter operations, planetary gears-sets, clutch assemblies, bands, and hydraulic systems operations. Students will learn transmission / transaxle operations, diagnosis and repair.

Learning Outcomes Demonstrate torque converter operation and power flow as well as diagnosis of torque converters in automotive transmissions / transaxles. Demonstrate compliance with current automotive industry safety and environmental standards Perform diagnosis and repair operations on automotive transmissions / transaxles in accordance with ASE standards Access and utilize service information and technical service bulletins in accordance with ASE standards. Demonstrate power flow of automatic transmissions. Identify and describe automatic transmission / transaxle component and operation in accordance with ASE standards.
