Adult Health Nursing II focuses on the care of adults with common medical/surgical health problems. Emphasis is placed on physiological disorders that require management in an acute care facility. Application of pathophysiology, nutrition, and pharmacology are applied to co-morbid diseases within each topic area. Prerequisites: PNSG 1010 , PNSG 1355 , PNSG 1400 , PNSG 1600 .
Learning Outcomes
Use focused assessment data to select interventions from an established plan of care for the adult patient with common medical/surgical health problems.
Differentiate priorities of care for individual patients with co-mobid diseases.
Provide rationales for prioritized nursing judgements for the adult patient with common medical/surgical health problems.
Use the nursing process to collect data and contribute to the plan of care for the adult patient with common medical/surgical health problems.
Outline barriers to communication and learning to individual patients when providing health care information or reinforcing teaching plans.
Compare evidence based information through journals and online databases related to the care of adults with common medical/surgical health problems.
Examine knowledge of pharmacology, pathophysiology and nutrition for adult patients with medical surgical health problems.
Determine the appropriate response within the scope of practice of a LPN to actual or potential patient complications.
Differentiate interventions (reporting changes, identifying actions to take, etc.) within an established plan of care for potential/actual patient complications of the adult patient.
