Clinical I provides the student an opportunity to apply nursing judgement using the nursing process to implement safe, patient/relationship centered care in selected settings. The clinical student demonstrates focused assessments, data collection, implementation of skills learned in the lab setting, documents findings and reinforces teaching plans for individual patients with common problems. The student develops communication and customer service skills working with individual patients and teammembers. Prerequisite: acceptance into the PN Program.
Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate caring communication skills and cultural sensitivity when using the nursing process to contribute to the plan of care for adult patients and provide health care information and reinforce established teaching plans for patients. Maintain Confidentiality when using information technology to accurately document the provision and outcomes of patient care, use of technology to access reliable information and resources that enhance patient care, reduce reliance on memory, and enhance competency within the practice setting. Provide rationales for prioritization of care and nursing judgement and demonstrate nursing judgement when performing focused assessments, choosing nursing interventions from an established plan of care, monitoring and reporting changes in the patient?s condition.
