ELEC 2120 - Electrical Apparatus Lab
6 Credits Prerequisites ELEC 1120 , ELEC 1130 , ELEC 1240
This course will consist of clearly directed lab exercises with the expectation of exact results, performance evaluations and related assignments. Students will have an opportunity to connect, troubleshoot, and operate both basic and complex controlcircuits, connect and operate single-phase and three-phase motors, across-the-line motor controllers, reduced-voltage starters, and variable frequency drives. In addition, students will connect and operate single-phase and three-phase transformers, atotransformers, and other electrical equipment and apparatus. The supporting technical information will be provided through a parallel theory course.
Learning Outcomes Recognize and select devices required to meet different methods of controlling load. Identify hazards of common apparatus systems and apply safety procedures to mitigate risks. Apply appropriate grounding and boarding to NEC standards. Demonstrate ability to control apparatus and achieve the desired operation. Connect, operate, and troubleshoot a variety of apparatus to NEC standards.
